2010 — The UPS Store located
at 522 North Fourteenth Street has served the citizens
of Ponca City and the surrounding area for 16 years with
shipping, postal and business services. The store was
first under the name of Mail Box Etc. and in 2005 became
The UPS Store.
Cable One has seen big changes
since 1966 when the company started serving Ponca City
over 44 years ago. Back then, only 12 channels were
available, evening news was limited to 6:30 pm and you
stayed home to make sure you Caught your favorite
program. Now customers can choose from hundreds of
channels, get the latest news up to the minute and watch
TV on their schedule. And we don’t just offer Cable TV.
Now residents can count on Cable One for all their

Our

2010, Cable One added 11 new HD channels and the highly
requested NFL Network. Our phone service added advanced
features like Voice Mail to E-mail. We continue to

Development Authority (PCDA) is nearing a one year
anniversary of its green initiative known as SAGE
(Sustainable Alternative Green Energy). The purpose of
the SAGE initiative is to explore, understand and
accelerate the opportunities for renewable energy in
north central Oklahoma.

Ponca Plaza Shopping Center completed its first phase of
construction and the first shops opened for business in
1971. Thirty nine years later the shopping center has
grown to encompass 181,747 square feet of space which
serves as home to twenty nine businesses.

Celebrates Two Years
Smith Home Furnishings is
now in the process of completing the renovation of their
store located at 2500 N. 14th St in Ponca City,
Oklahoma. The 40,000 square foot building was originally
the first K-Mart store built here in the mid-1970’s, and
was purchased by the Smith family in 2004. During the
past year, several changes to the building have been
made, including expanded showroom space and the addition
of a warehouse structure. The day-to-day operations of
the store are overseen by Larry and Charlotte Smith,
alongwith 23 employees.
Now in its second year,
classes for the new Children’s Visual Arts Academy at
the Ponca City Art Center have been so popular that
they’ve filled long before classes began.
New
Technologies Are Offered at Dentist Office - Dentistry
is rapidly improving and changing, according to Dr. Jim
Highfill, DDS. The newer digital technologies have
allowed for better diagnostic x-rays, intraoral pictures
cavity detection, stronger and quicker crowns,
electronic specialist consultations, and more.
Ponca City Budget Remains Stable

Village in Ponca City began as the dream of several
Ponca City residents, who saw a need for a continuing
care retirement community. Generous benefactors helped
provide seed money for the
construction, and the
Village opened at 1601 Academy Road on Aug. 1, 1985.
Head Country Foods Continues Growth Streak
CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait — members of TLC’s BBQ Pitmasters
embarked on a first for the USO and Department of
Defense by staging two monumental barbeque feasts in the
Middle Eastern desert as part of their “Kings of BBQ
Tour.” Their goal was to feed worldclass barbeque to the
troops deployed to Camp Buehring and Camp Arifjan. From
Sept. 19 to Sept. 25, the tour smoked over 2,000 pounds
of beef brisket and 4,500 chicken leg quarters to share
with the troops. And topping it all was 210 gallons of
Head Country Bar-B-Q Sauce, made in Ponca City by Head
Country Food Products.
Installations Unlimited’s
car stereo division is under new ownership. After 21
years of serving Ponca City and northern Oklahoma, Jamie
Flegler announced the sale of Installations Unlimited’s
two divisions.
The car stereo division is now owned
by Bill Flegler, president of Hi-Fi Systems. The AT&T
wireless dealership division of Installations Unlimited
sold to Communications Connection, operator of the AT&T
authorized retail store, 2008 North Fourteenth Street.
Brad Liston, D.O., joined the Ponca City Medical
Center medical staff this summer and began seeing
patients on August 2.
2010 has been a year of
growth for Oklahoma-owned community bank, RCB Bank. In
July, RCB acquired the assets and branches of Home
National Bank in Oklahoma and Kansas, which included 3
locations in the Ponca City area. RCB now has 30
locations across two states, over 500 employees and
assets over $1.9 billion, making us one of the largest
Oklahoma owned banks.
A landmark Ponca City
restaurant, Pauline’s Supper Club, changed ownership
this year. Ralph Mayberry, former ConocoPhillips
employee, purchased the well-known steak house from
Terry Burns this
past spring.
In Summer 2009,
the old United Supermarket Building was donated to the
UC Foundation for the purpose of it becoming the new
home of the University Center at Ponca City! Plans for
the renovation have been drawn, some funding secured,
and more in the process of being raised.
Lewis
and Associates Architects are guiding the project with
Sooner Construction recently being awarded the General
Contractor role. The renovations are expected to be
completed in approximately 7 months with an anticipated
move-in date to be in May or June.
Celebrating 60
years of service the Ponca City Club of Soroptimist
International is a group of professional women, both
working and retired, who give their time to the local
community in a number of ways. Chartered in 1950 by 25
local women, the club is an international service
organization whose mission is to improve the lives of
women and girls locally and throughout the world.
Blazing New Trails at Silvertop Farm - Silvertop
Farm & Vineyards, founded in 1945 by Joe and Ruth
Steichen, has been adding to its diversified farming
operation southwest of Ponca City in an area recently
branded as the Salt Fork River Valley.
